Hi, I’m Eleni Kavros DeGraw, your CT State Representative for the 17th District—Avon and Canton.
I’m running for re-election to continue serving District 17.
Over the last three years, I’ve worked to improve the lives of children, seniors, families, people with disabilities, and veterans. I’ve written and passed important legislation, including:
Phased out the removal of the personal income tax from IRAs
Passed a municipal property tax credit for veterans making $50,000 or less
Created a workforce pipeline for people with intellectual or developmental disability (IDD) with Representative Tammy Exum
Passed the Purple Alert System for people with IDD over the age of 18 and created funding for sensory bags for first responders as part of a larger bill helping people with disabilities
Passed the Student Loan Debt relief bill
As part of the Democratic caucus, we balanced the budget, enacted significant tax cuts, protected reproductive healthcare, passed early voting, and made children’s education and mental health a priority.
And every day, I wake up knowing there is so much more good work to do. Our cost of living is too high for many people, we have more families experiencing homelessness than we have ever seen, our climate crisis continues to accelerate every season, we don’t have enough housing residents can afford, and we must continue to fight against the rising hate and intolerance we see sweeping the country. Many of our society’s most critical careers are facing shortages and we need to support our teachers, healthcare workers, and mental health professionals, among others. I’m ready to keep working on these challenges and many others.
We have met our fundraising goal for the CEP Grant! Thank you to all who donated!
